DSVA Scholarships
The VII Corps Desert Storm Veterans Association provides scholarships for up to $5,000 each. Applications will be accepted from candidates who are
pursuing or about to pursue higher-level education in two or four year institutions. Applications will not be rated solely on academic standing.
Consideration for selection will also include extracurricular activities: e.g., community activities and/or involvement; professional organizations; high
school organizations and/or activities, and other self-development skills and abilities obtained through on-the-job training/experiences, or
correspondence courses. Applicant must be a soldier, or a family member of a soldier, who served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm or Provide
Comfort.

The VII Corps Desert Storm Veterans Association announces its twelfth Scholarship Program competition. Scholarships for up to $5,000 each will be
awarded. Applications will be accepted from candidates who are pursuing or about to pursue higher-level education in two or four year institutions.
Applications will not be rated solely on academic standing. Consideration for selection will also include extracurricular activities: e.g., community
activities and/or involvement; professional organizations; high school organizations and/or activities, and other self-development skills and abilities
obtained through on-the-job training/experiences, or correspondence courses.
1. The VII Corps Desert Storm Veterans Association’s specific purposes shall be as follows:
a. Provide assistance to the families of those soldiers who died as a result of participation in Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm or Provide Comfort
and to those soldiers and families with illnesses linked to that service.
b. Provide assistance to those who served, or to families of those who served in Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm or Provide Comfort.
c. Provide an organization of VII Corps veterans to preserve and foster camaraderie, provide charitable assistance, foster fraternal relations and
provide a network of soldiers and families.
d. Provide a means to preserve the history of VII Corps during Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm or Provide Comfort.
2. General qualifications will be measured and selections based upon the completed application (enclosure 2) and the following:
a. Two current letters of recommendation (cannot be from relatives).
b. Transcripts of grades from your current school or latest school attended.
3. Applications for consideration must be postmarked no later than 15 January 2010. Notification of Award will be made by 20 March 2010. If you desire
a personal notification, please provide a self-stamped envelope.
